How we work
Measured, never vendor-supplied
Every number published here comes from requests we issued ourselves. We never reprint a provider's marketing figure as a benchmark result, and paid placement never changes a score.
Identical rig for every network
Same runners in Frankfurt, Ashburn and Singapore, same concurrency, same jitter and backoff, same target list. A provider cannot win by being tested on an easier workload.
Success, not status codes
A 200 OK that returns a challenge page is a failure. We validate payloads against hand-labelled gold sets so the success-rate column reflects usable data.
Re-tested quarterly
Pools churn, anti-bot vendors ship new fingerprints, prices move. Studies carry a measurement date and are re-run every quarter rather than left to age.
Research FAQ
How does 5Proxy collect its proxy benchmark data?+
We run identical test suites from cloud runners in Frankfurt, Ashburn and Singapore against a fixed list of twelve live targets protected by Cloudflare, DataDome, PerimeterX and plain origins. Each network receives the same concurrency, jitter and backoff settings over a continuous 72-hour window, and every response is validated against a hand-labelled gold set before it counts as a success.
Are the research figures independent of affiliate relationships?+
Yes. Measurements are produced before any commercial discussion and are never adjusted for partners. Affiliate links fund the testing infrastructure but have no influence on scores, rankings or published data, as set out in our affiliate disclosure.
How often is the proxy research updated?+
The flagship market report is refreshed at least quarterly, and pricing tables are re-checked monthly because per-GB rates move faster than performance. Every study shows its measurement window and last-modified date.
Which proxy types are covered by the research?+
Residential, mobile 4G/5G, ISP static, datacenter, IPv6, and both rotating and sticky configurations, tested over SOCKS5 and HTTP/HTTPS. Antidetect browsers and scraping/AI extraction APIs are benchmarked with their own methodology.
