The only honest way to compare HTTP proxies is cost per successful request on your own targets, measured with an identical harness across every candidate.
Headline prices hide three variables: block rate, retry-driven bandwidth waste and whether failures are billable. Fold all three in and rankings often invert.
Run 1,000 identical requests per vendor at fixed concurrency, log status, bytes and latency, then compute success rate, p95 latency and dollars per 1,000 successes. Repeat per target class.
Before purchase, at 30 days, and whenever a target changes defences. Keep the harness in version control so results stay comparable over time.
