A residential proxy network is the infrastructure behind the gateway: the peers, the routing layer, the health checks and the compliance process that decides which devices are allowed to carry your traffic.

Peers join through SDKs bundled in free apps, bandwidth-for-service exchanges or paid opt-in clients. The routing layer scores each peer on uptime, latency and abuse history, then matches your targeting parameters against the live set.

Ask any vendor three compliance questions: how do peers consent, how can they leave, and who audits the process. Networks with published consent flows and an opt-out endpoint carry meaningfully lower legal and reputational risk.

Network design matters most for regulated industries and enterprise procurement, where sourcing documentation is part of the vendor questionnaire rather than a nice-to-have.
