A SOCKS5 comparison has to cover two dimensions at once: how good the IP pool is, and how complete the SOCKS5 implementation is.
Feature matrix to build: IP class, UDP ASSOCIATE, IPv6 support, username auth versus whitelist, remote DNS, concurrent connection cap, session control syntax and geo targeting granularity.
Test each endpoint with curl for TCP and DNS, a UDP-capable client for UDP, and your production tool for the real answer. Record latency and success rate alongside the feature grid.
Run the comparison whenever you add a non-HTTP workload — an existing vendor that is excellent for scraping may be unusable for it.
