Rotating proxies assign a different exit IP per request or per timed session, spreading traffic across a whole pool so no single address hits a rate limit.
Per-request vs timed rotation
Per-request rotation gives maximum IP diversity and suits stateless crawling. Timed rotation (sticky sessions of 1–30 minutes) keeps a single IP long enough to complete a login, a cart flow, or a paginated result set.
Choosing a rotation strategy
Match rotation to the target's rate limit, not to your crawl speed. A site allowing 30 requests per IP per hour needs one IP per 30 requests — rotating faster wastes pool and raises anomaly scores.
Backconnect gateways
Most rotating pools expose a single backconnect endpoint. You keep one host and port in your code; the provider swaps the exit node behind it, so rotation costs you zero engineering.

Static residential proxies (also sold as ISP proxies) give you a fixed IP registered to a consumer ISP but hosted in a datacenter — residential trust with server-grade speed and uptime.
