IPv6 datacenter proxies cost a fraction of IPv4 because address space is effectively unlimited — a single allocation yields more addresses than the entire IPv4 internet.
The catch is reach: a target must publish an AAAA record and serve IPv6 for the proxy to be usable at all. Where it does, you can rotate through thousands of unique addresses for pennies.
Check AAAA records for every target before buying. Note that some sites rate-limit by /64 block rather than by single address, which collapses your effective pool size — ask vendors how many distinct /64 blocks they provide.
Use IPv6 for high-volume crawling of large IPv6-ready platforms and for cheap rotation where reputation checks are light. Keep an IPv4 pool for everything else.
